Discovery Treks Inc. is affiliated with the Institute of Ecotourism in Sedona, AZ, and is involved in promoting the philosophy of treading lightly in wilderness areas. Leave No Trace ethics are practiced by all the staff and customers during the backcountry adventures.

President Theodore Roosevelt said it best with a now famous quote of his:

Discovery Treks Inc. will take you on once in a lifetime adventures in the southwest U.S. and Alaska. At Grand Canyon National Park there are three to five-day hiking, packhorse and horseback riding trips below the rim to unparalleled scenery! They also have a three or four-day camping trip package in the remote north with spectacular views into the “main inner gorge”. Hike all day and then return to a fully equipped base camp, great for the summer months.

The Dark Canyon Wilderness in southern Utah offers a five-day expedition backpack trip. This remote region in the canyonlands of Utah is a land of deep, colorful sandstone canyons where mountain lions, bobcats, desert bighorn sheep, golden eagles and black bears call home. The ancient Anasazi Indians lived here hundreds of years and you will visit their abandoned rock art and cliff dwellings sites. Off the beaten track best describes this rugged adventure.

Last but not least, is of course Alaska! The Kenai Peninsula, from where the trips originate, has everything “the last frontier” is famous for. Soaring mountain peaks covered in snow, deep fjords teeming with sea life, the majestic grizzly bear, immense glaciers and interesting historic towns dotting the seashore. You can join the five-day lodging/hiking package, staying at a quaint lodge and venturing out each day to sample a different location or head off into the backcountry on an all inclusive five-day backpack expedition.
