   Overview

Near the Southwestern corner of Glacier National Park, a hiking and adventure company worthy of the setting, makes its home: Glacier Wilderness Guides, Inc. and Montana Raft Company.

If you're looking for a unique travel experience, one with just the right mix of challenge, excitement, exploration and discovery, you are looking for Glacier Wilderness Guides/Montana Raft Company. They have more than 17 years experience in hiking, camping, whitewater rafting, fishing and just plain growing up in this area.

Whether you want to go hiking and backpacking in Glacier National Park, raft and fish the Wild and Scenic Flathead Rivers, or do some of both, you'll be going with people who actively promote the understanding and preservation of the “last best place."

WHY SHOULD WE CHOOSE A TRIP WITH GLACIER WILDERNESS GUIDES?

To be honest, Glacier National Park is reason enough to come to this part of Montana. But to maximize your experience, one can’t beat the knowledge of the Glacier Wilderness Guides.

All the staff including owners, Randy, Cris, John and Doug, have hiked, camped, rafted, fished and generally explored the area for most of their lives. All staff live on site because they love it and choose to be there. They are proud to show off their home and are active in its preservation.

Most importantly, they know the special places.

Why show up at Glacier with a handful of maps and brochures, unsure about the best places to stay or eat? You could waste precious vacation days just figuring out where to go hiking, getting a permit, arranging shuttles and organizing meals. And even if you go through all that hassle, there is no guarantee you’ll find those special places in Glacier.

One call can solve all of these problems. Spend time enjoying the splendors of Glacier and let them handle the details. They are ready to take you on the trip of a lifetime.

WHO ARE THESE GUYS, ANYWAY?

Glacier Wilderness Guides was founded in 1983 because no one else was providing the kind of ecologically sensitive backcountry guiding and interpretation that Glacier National Park deserved. In those days there were just three, but their hunch that an outfit like theirs was needed turned out to be correct. Four years later, they expanded to include rafting on the area’s two wild and scenic rivers. Today, with more than 50 guides and support people on their staff, they provide the area’s most comprehensive and professional hiking, backpacking and rafting services.

At Glacier Wilderness Guides and Montana Raft Co., they owe their success to their staff. They’re not just a company, they’re friends. Many of their guides are students or teachers in the off-season, dovetailing their schedules with the summer season in West Glacier. Others ski, hike fish or raft professionally in other parts of the country the rest of the year. All are dedicated outdoors people who hone their skills constantly, sharing won insights with their guests.

As they prepare for a new season, they are once again excited to share with you the beauty and grandeur that is Glacier.

But as they like to say: “You won’t know if you don’t go”.
